  • Tengan, T.P.K., et al. (2010). Special Issue: “Articulating Indigenous Anthropology in/of Oceania.” Pacific Studies 33(2/3): 168-319 (please exclude the article by Tēvita Ka’ili from your consideration).

Compare the arguments in the two pieces and explain how they articulate future possibilities of indigenous anthropology in Oceania. In your essay, you should tell us what your position is in the controversy and why. Your essay should explore how indigenous anthropology explores:

  1. How knowledge is produced and circulated.
  2. How the readings articulate issues of representation by non-indigenous scholars.
  3. How indigenous scholars contribution essential perspectives to a more complex understanding of Oceania.

Your essay should be at least 1000 words (approx. 4.5 pages) and double-spaced in Times New Roman in 12 sized font. Your essay is worth 200 points and is due on July 30th at 2pm.
